Lighting This Chick’s Fire – Guest Post

Have you ever met someone who swooped into your life unexpectedly, and who—possibly even from that very first chance encounter—changed the entire course of your life? In my own experience, I have found that these people come along just when we need them. Whether they stay in our lives for only a brief time, or become our best friend or future husband, their mere presence in our lives will challenge us to grow, to make bold changes, and to follow our true passions. And, if we’re lucky like the main character Natasha in my latest novella, this life-altering person will come in the package of an alluring, sexy stranger like Nicholas Reyes.

When Nicholas swoops into Natasha’s life, she is knee-deep in a failing marriage after a difficult struggle with infertility. She is so attached to the idea of what she once wanted for her life that she has abandoned her true desires, her true self. Nicholas is the flame who comes along and lights her fire again—something we all need from time to time. If you’ve been lucky enough to have one of these people come into your life—welcome or not—and give you the wake-up call you needed to experience life on a deeper level, thank them.

One of my absolute favorite quotes sums up this phenomenon perfectly:

“Sometimes our light goes out but is blown again into flame by an encounter with another human being. Each of us owes the deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this inner light. ” — Albert Schweitzer

Now, whether or not Nicholas stays in Natasha’s life for a while or storms in like a lightning bolt and simply shakes things up—well, you’ll have to read the story to find out…

Book Blitz: Kept by Elle Field + Giveaway

Image

“Did she really just say that? I am fifteen again, except the reality is I am experiencing full parental horror, aged twenty-five. I want to die.”

Life hasn’t quite worked out how Arielle Lockley imagined it would. Becoming the next Coco Chanel was always her childhood dream, but she’s spent the past four years living a dizzying whirl of glitzy parties, luxurious holidays and daily shopping sprees – all paid for by boyfriend Piers – and not doing anything to make her Coco dreams happen.

When the recession hits, it’s not just the economy that takes a tumble and Arielle finds herself living back with her parents, on bad terms with Piers, and having a CV that’s as welcome as a pair of knock-off Jimmy Choos. And maybe it’s the location, but she’s also finding unwelcome thoughts of her childhood sweetheart are popping into her head…

What’s a girl to do? Can Arielle figure out what it is she now wants to do with her life and move on, or will she be doomed to spend the rest of her life dwelling over her worst mistakes, stuck listening to her parents’ embarrassing dinner table talk each night?
